The practical details
Terms of service.
A straightforward guide to using Pocket Editor and keeping control of your work.
01 / Using Pocket Editor
These terms describe the proposed conditions for using the Pocket Editor Android app and this website. “Publisher” means the legal person or business identified in the contact section once these terms are finalized.
Subject to applicable law and these terms, the publisher permits you to install and use Pocket Editor for personal or professional editing on devices you are entitled to use. This permission does not transfer ownership of the app. Third-party and open-source components remain subject to their own licenses and bundled notices.
Use the app only with files, devices, accounts, and services you are authorized to access. Do not use it to unlawfully access systems, infringe others’ rights, or distribute malicious software. Nothing in these terms restricts activity or interoperability rights that applicable law protects.
02 / Your code belongs to you
You retain your rights in the code, files, projects, and other content you create or edit. Using Pocket Editor does not grant the publisher ownership of your content or a right to publish it.
You choose which locations to open and which remote services to connect. Local edits, remote saves, Git commits, and shell commands can affect real files and repositories. Review the destination and action before saving, overwriting, deleting, running commands, or publishing.
Keep backups of work you want to preserve. Recovery drafts are a convenience, not guaranteed backup storage. Some unsaved buffers exist only in memory, and operating systems may clear cached data.
03 / Optional tools and external services
GitHub, Android document providers, servers, desktop companion connections, Termux, and Google Play are separate services or software. You are responsible for having permission to use them and for following their applicable terms. They may require accounts, credentials, setup, payment, or a network connection.
The publisher does not control their availability, actions, storage, or policies. Ending a Pocket Editor connection does not necessarily delete their data, stop an external process, or revoke a credential at its source.
Pocket Editor is independent of Microsoft and Visual Studio Code. It does not support VS Code extensions. Android, Google Play, GitHub, and other third-party names belong to their respective owners; references describe compatibility or integration, not endorsement.
04 / Features and compatibility
The app requires Android 8.0 or newer and an appropriate Android System WebView. Available behavior can depend on your device, file provider, permissions, server configuration, and installed tools.
Language support varies: syntax highlighting is not a promise of full compiler or type analysis for every language. The built-in preview runs browser code. Local language runtimes and terminal tools require separate setup through Termux, or can run on a connected server.
Updates may change features or compatibility. Material changes to these terms will be communicated with an updated effective date and any notice or consent required by law. Changes will not remove rights already granted by applicable consumer law.
05 / Downloads and purchases
The current Google Play listing, once available, will state availability, compatibility, and any price before download or purchase. This draft website does not promise a price or subscription offering and does not take payments.
Any purchase made through Google Play is also subject to its applicable purchase and refund terms. Those terms do not replace mandatory cancellation, refund, or other consumer rights under local law.
06 / Reliability and your rights
Software can contain errors. Code checks may miss problems, recovery may be incomplete, and network or provider failures may interrupt operations. Review and test code before relying on it, and protect important files with your own backups.
The app is provided with the functionality and support described in its applicable release offering. No promise is made that it will meet every purpose or operate without interruption. These statements do not exclude statutory guarantees, required updates, or remedies.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable. Your mandatory consumer rights, access to courts, and rights under the law of your usual residence remain unaffected. No mandatory arbitration, blanket waiver, or exclusive foreign court is imposed by this draft.
07 / Stopping use
You may stop using Pocket Editor at any time and uninstall it. Export older app-private projects and save important work first. User-selected files, Git history, remote data, and Termux files can remain after uninstalling and must be managed separately.
See the privacy policy for what is stored locally, how credentials are handled, and how to remove app data or disconnect services.
08 / Publisher and contact
Publisher / legal entity: To be provided before publication.
Public contact email: To be provided before publication.
Business address and registration details, where required: To be provided before publication.
The final terms must identify the actual publisher and provide a working contact before they take effect.
